Tithing – Savings – Spending Jars + Free Printable Labels

So I needed to come up with something for Activity Days, and I was reading over the budgeting requirement, and I wanted to do something that wouldn’t be totally boring… my little brother has this cute, “Tithing, Savings, Mission” jar, and I thought it was cute, but to make something more girl friendly I  just made the labels “Tithing, Savings and Spending”.   These would also work great for Family Home Evening.  If you would like different labels, I have also made a set of blank labels.

tithing savings spending jars tutorial

Supplies:

  • Standard 15oz cans
  • Patterned Duct Tape (Walmart has it for under $4/roll)
  • Washi Tape (I also got that at Walmart for a few dollars)
  • Free Printable Labels – Download is at the bottom of the post (Optional – the cans are really cute without labels too!)

Duct Tape Jar Supplies

Directions:

Simple, I started with the washi tape and wrapped it around the middle, then I wrapped the Duck Tape around the top and bottom.   Either stop there, or just print the labels on a full sheet of sticker paper, cut them out, then stick em’.

LOVE this idea! Especially for my tween daughter; the old tithing, saving, spending bank she had was “too babyish” (her words) and she gave it away a couple of years ago. Lately she has just been using a small zipper pouch for her tithe, and a piggy bank for her other money. These new jars will look great in her room. Thanks so much for the idea and the free downloads!

  2. What is a tithing?

  3. This is a great idea! Where did you get the 15 oz cans at?

  4. Hi there,

I’d like to know where you got your cans as well.

    Thanks!

  5. Great idea! I’ve been looking for a good tithing bank for my kids, but international shipping makes them crazy expensive. I don’t know why I didn’t think to do one myself.

Did you do any kind of lid for them? I’m wondering if I’d be able to find something or not. I might just try mod podging paper onto a jar or something instead.

    • No, I didn’t do a lid. I thought about it, but didn’t want to spend the extra money… If you are looking for a lid, the only place that I could find one, I think, was PETCO… random, but it was a lid for dog food cans 🙂

  6. These are great! Thanks for the free labels download!

I was thinking about the lid too and remember my daughter got those 2.5 oz pringles can from the gas station and that thought would be a great can with a lid. Now I need to see if I can find them cheaper somewhere other than the gas station to make for my Acivity Day girls. Thanks for the idea. If I can get enough pringles cans the metal can will work great!

  8. Stumbled upon this browsing Pinterest and I love this idea! We are making these with our 8-11 year old activity days girls, I’m just wondering how you got the sharp edge off the can? Thanks!

  9. These are so cute! So glad I found them, I needed a good idea for Activity Days. Question though, why do you need the Washi tape and the duct tape? Could you not just use the duct tape?
